SDL Music Album of the Month: If That’s What You Want, Glen Moffatt

It’s the end of the NZ Music Month of May but here’s one for June 2023.

Definitely time to feature one of the early stalwarts of the SDL Music Label - well it was Scoop de Loop then.

Glen Moffatt’s 3rd album - the 2001 ‘If That’s What You Want’ came as a result of having a bunch of new songs that were played live a lot - needing to escape.

‘It was recorded and mixed in a little over 30 hours on the smell of an oily rag’ says the album notes at the time.

The Band consisting of Glen, Rob Galley, Gordon Joll and Neil Hannan played regularly around the traps - including a long sunday night residency at the Java Jive in Ponsonby.

Recorded by Paul Crowther at Phoenix Studio (Avondale College Music Dept!) and Neil Hannan at Scoop de Loop in Mt Eden. Mixed by Nic Manders at Revolver.

One of my favourite Glen Moffatt albums - an honest reflection of the time and we still have some CD’s left if anyone wants a collectors item !
